SESSION 2: Challenges in Achieving Effective Vehicle Remote Driving
During this session, we will discuss vehicle teleoperation, the capability that enables a human operator at a control station to control and operate a vehicle in a remote location through commands via input/control devices, receiving feedback from displays. We’ll discuss motivation and introduce some potential applications, what standards are being developed, ongoing and future research projects, and where applications are being deployed in trials or demonstrations. In addition, the session will examine the requirements and challenges of teleoperation with respect to human factors, hardware, and software and current limitations.
