Wei Tong

Dr. Wei Tong is a staff researcher at General Motors Global R&D, Warren, Michigan, USA. His research focuses on machine learning technologies and their applications in safety-critical systems, especially in the areas of automated driving and active safety. He is passionately dedicated to pushing technological boundaries to increase effectiveness and safety on future roads. Outside General Motors, he played a pivotal role in the establishment of the SAE Ground Vehicle Artificial Intelligence Technical Committee in 2022. Since its inception, he has served as the committee chair, leading collaborative efforts and fostering advancements at the intersection of artificial intelligence and automotive technology. Dr. Tong holds a Ph.D. degree in Computing Science with a specialization in machine learning from Michigan State University and he serves as a reviewer and technical committee member for prestigious international conferences and journals in machine learning.
