Takao Onoda
Mr. Takao Onoda is Senior Director of National Traffic Safety and Environment Laboratory (NTSEL) of Japan, supervising international affairs in the Laboratory. Before taking this post, he served as Director General of Japan Automobile Standards Internationalization Center (JASIC) which assists the Japanese government in promoting the internationalization of vehicle regulations. He has also served as Director, Type Approval and Recall Division and Director, Office of International affairs in Road Transport Bureau of Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) in Japan. He has also been serving as vice-chairman of United Nation’s working party on automated and connected vehicles (GRVA), chairman of a working group on validation method for automated driving (VMAD) and chairman of a working group on international vehicle certification system (IWVTA). Mr. Takao Onoda joined the Ministry of Transport, predecessor of MLIT in 1991. He received his master’s degree in Engineering from Osaka Prefecture University and another master’s degree in international policy from Columbia University.
