Serafino Abate

Serafino works for Volvo Cars in Stockholm where he is responsible for regulations regarding cybersecurity, software, AI and data. Serafino is a digital regulation expert with 20 years’ international experience. He previously worked for the GSMA in London, where he worked on regulatory and competition policies relating to the mobile sector. Before joining the GSMA, Serafino worked in public policy in Brussels with ETNO and the Centre for Regulation in Europe (CERRE). Ha also worked at Ofcom, the UK telecom, post and media regulator, leading market reviews and international cooperation projects in telecom and digital regulation. He started his career in London working for an independent telecoms’ research and advisory firm, where he was responsible for producing research and advice for leading telecom and media operators and regulators around the world. Serafino holds a BSc in Political Economy and Industrial Organisations from the Università degli Studi di Firenze and a MSc in economics from the University of Bristol. Serafino speaks Italian, English, Spanish, French and Swedish.
