Patrick Seiniger
Patrick Seiniger is senior researcher at BASt, the federal highway and mobility research institute of Germany, since 2009. His current position is head of section “active vehicle safety and driver assistance systems”, and he was an important part of the informal working group that developed the worldwide harmonized AEBS regulation for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, and later co-chair of a comparable group for heavy commercial vehicles and busses. The basis for his work on AEBS at the UNECE is his experience developing and executing driver assistance vehicle tests within the „European New Car Assessment Programme“ and in various EU-funded research projects.
Before joining BASt, Mr. Seiniger received a Ph.D. from Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany for a thesis on motorcycle dynamics in 2009, and he also was seconded to the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure in 2018. Besides AEBS topics, Mr. Seiniger played a significant role in developing regulations for blind spot information systems and automated lane keeping systems.
