Ashweeni Beeharee
Dr Ashweeni Beeharee is the Head of Ubiquitous Connectivity department and he joined the Satellite Applications Catapult in 2013. Through a mix of technical expertise, business and user centred design experience, he has shaped a number of high impact R&D work as well as technology driven business initiatives throughout his career. He leads the catapult activities in seamless communications (including satellite communication and 5G/6G) – driving for unification of terrestrial and non-terrestrial communications.
For the last six years, he has been elected by peers to be on the supervisory board of ITS Europe (ERTICO) representing the R&D sector for Europe. He is catapult’s representative for the standards body ETSI and 3GPP. He actively works with European and International administrative bodies, contributes to white papers on connectivity and satellite technologies. He is equally member of the business team at the Westcott Incubation Centre and the technical owner of the Future Network Development Centre (FNDC) in Westcott. He is also a BSI (British Standards Institute) subject matter expert on satellite technology and has been on the European CEN WG15 (eCall) team providing leadership on eCall over satellite.
He has lead on a number of UK and international initiatives (funded through TEN-T, H2020, InnovateUK, UKSA, ESA) within Europe, China, India, Colombia, Turkey and Indonesia. His technical area of expertise lies in the design and exploitation of hybrid communication (terrestrial, satellite) systems and end-to-end solutions.
