Michael Hambauer

Michael Hambauer is head of system approval for assisted and automated driving functions at BMW, since 2021. He coordinated the approval activies for the first in Germany approved assisted driving functions with extended driver monitoring – the BMW Highway Assistant and the Extended Lane Change Assistant with eye activation as an industry premier. Another highlight was the approval for the BMW Personal Pilot in 2023 as the first Level 3 function at BMW. From 2017-2021 he was responsible for the integration of the E/E system of BMW driving dynamic functions for the BMW iX. Before he coordinated as an expert the emission approval in US/Canada for BMW driving dynamics components. Michael Hambauer is graduated mechanical engineer (TU Munich) with more than 10 years of experience in E/E development and approval of automotive components and functions.
